Monique: Justice Should Go Beyond Punishment
Meet Monique Jimenez
I am a survivor, therapist, professor, and advocate committed to trauma-informed care and sexual violence prevention. I am proud of how I’ve used both my lived experience and professional platform to support survivors, educate future professionals, and push for meaningful change in systems that often fall short.
I am a survivor and I stand for restorative/transformative justice because…
I am a survivor of Child Sexual Abuse, Incest, Teen Date Rape, and Domestic Violence. I stand for restorative and transformative justice because I understand both personally and professionally how harm can impact every aspect of a person’s life. I have seen how traditional systems can sometimes feel dismissive or re-traumatizing, leaving survivors without the support they truly need. I believe justice should go beyond punishment and instead focus on healing, validation, and meaningful accountability. In my work, I advocate for approaches that center survivor voices while also addressing the broader systems that allow harm to occur. Restorative and transformative justice offer pathways for healing that are more human-centered and sustainable. I am committed to creating spaces where individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing journey.
